*Partnership to focus on AI-enabled diagnostics, predictive analytics, clinical decision support, and hospital operations*
In a landmark step towards bringing Artificial Intelligence directly to the bedside, the NIT Raipur Foundation for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (NITRRFIE), the Technology Business Incubator of NIT Raipur, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur. The partnership has been established under the MeitY IndiaAI Chhattisgarh Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (AI-CoE). Established at NIT Raipur under the flagship IndiaAI Mission of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, with the active support of the Government of Chhattisgarh, the AI-CoE carries a project outlay of ₹20.00 crore. The Centre operates across three strategic domains—Healthcare & Multidisciplinary, Mining & Minerals, and Steel & Industries—making this collaboration with the region’s premier medical institution a defining milestone for healthcare technology.
The five-year collaboration creates a robust operational framework under which AIIMS Raipur will share real-world clinical problem statements and deep domain expertise, while the AI-CoE brings its researchers, incubated start-ups, students, laboratories, and high-performance computing infrastructure to build practical solutions. Priority areas under this alliance include AI-enabled diagnostics, clinical decision support systems, predictive analytics, healthcare delivery, and optimized hospital operations. Adopted under a strictly problem-driven rather than technology-driven philosophy, the initiative opens doors for joint research, rapid prototyping, controlled clinical pilots, field validation, expert clinical mentorship, internships, hackathons, skill development programs, and community outreach.
Speaking on the strategic value of the tie-up, Dr. N. V. Ramana Rao, Director of NIT Raipur and Board Director of NITRRFIE, emphasized that the real strength of the partnership lies in converting genuine healthcare challenges into responsible, effective, and scalable technology solutions, expressing confidence that it will set a benchmark for academia–healthcare–startup collaboration nationwide. Echoing these sentiments, Lt Gen Ashok Jindal (Retd.), Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Raipur, reaffirmed the medical institute’s commitment to bringing clinical insight and real-world validation to the table so that artificial intelligence meaningfully translates into improved clinical outcomes, safer patient care, and expanded healthcare access for the people of Chhattisgarh.
The official signing ceremony was attended by key leadership from both institutions. AIIMS Raipur was represented by Lt Gen Ashok Jindal (Retd.), Executive Director & CEO; Dr. D. K. Tripathi, Head, SRIJAN; Dr. Abhiruchi Galhotra, Dean (Research); Dr. Eli Mohapatra, Dean (Academics); Dr. Ekta Khandelwal, Associate Dean (Research); Dr. Naman Agrawal, Member Secretary, SRIJAN; Dr. Roshan Mathew, AI Nodal, SRIJAN; and Dr. Pushpawati Thakur, Professor (OBG) and Member, SRIJAN.
